Walk in the Woods
A day at the ocean
My wife and I lived in Modesto California for 16 years. It was a little more than two hours drive to visit the beaches along the coast from San Francisco clear down to Seaside. After a few years, we found ourselves visiting Monterey the most. We would walk miles and miles along the coast, sometime visiting little shops and restaurants. Then in the evening, we would get some carry out food, sit along the beach and watch the sunset.
A walk in the woods
When I was seven, we lived in northern Indiana. My folks bought five country lots, in the middle of some oak woods. My dad and my older brother sawed down the oak trees, with a log chain behind the car, drug the logs to the mill which was about five miles away. Then brought the lumber back with a trailer and built our house. They first built a garage that we lived in until the house was finished. We moved into the house after three years. Wow, plumbing and electric in the house. What will they think of next. So I grew up in an area that had several oak woods where I spent much of my time. Needless to say, this sketch jogged that memory.
Just crossed the finish line.
